At KDCH, we don’t build houses…we build homes. You can see the difference from the moment you walk in because we take great pride in our designs, floor plans, and quality of construction. What other builders consider as “upgrades” are standard amenities in our homes. Examples of our standard features are; 3cm granite for all counter tops, built-in appliances (including convection oven), designer colors and special wood finishes, zero-entry walk-in showers, professional landscaping and sprinkler system, full security system, Cat5 wiring throughout, built-in dressers, and a host of other features.
It’s not easy being green…but we do it anyway. Each of our homes includes our KD Green Energy Package as a standard feature. We enroll our homes in the ONG Energy Efficiency program which means it must meet stringent standards for air leakage, efficiency, and energy consumption. We use 90%+ efficient gas furnaces and minimum 14.5 seer a/c condensers. Our insulation includes an attic seal, R38 in the attic, R15 in the walls, and R8 for the ductwork. In addition, we use insulated garage doors, install Zip System wall sheathing to resist moisture and mold, and use SolarBoard roof decking that keeps the attic 15-20 degrees cooler than standard decking.
Our homes are beautiful on the inside too! You can see the quality of our homes in the fit, finish, and design of everything we do, but the things that you can’t see are just as important. We typically install an integrated pest management system between the exterior sheathing and the brick to control bugs/termites without having to spray insecticides on the inside of your home. Additionally, we reinforce or concrete floor slabs with a lattice-work of rebar to help strengthen the floor. Most builders don’t go to this extreme because it’s time consuming and costly. However, we do it because it improves the quality of the home and it’s the right thing to do.
